More painted rocks

I bought some rocks from Amazon. Yes. You read that correctly. I bought some rocks to paint on Amazon. I love how smooth these rocks are.

Don’t give up rocks

I put these and some other rocks in the plant boxes in downtown Waukesha

A sunny rock

Here is a picture of one of my sunny rocks laying in the flowers. I left the religious rocks on top of the filing cabinet near a hair salon and the Social Security office on South Street.

Jesus loves you rock

My not so new YouTube channel

I have been busy painting rocks for Easter. I videoed myself next to my church and left them for people to find tomorrow on Easter.

I posted the video to my re-named YouTube channel. Since I am new to posting on YouTube, my video editing skills are rough. So, I hope you will be forgiving as I learn.

My favorite rock images

I enjoy painting rocks and putting them out in my neighborhood for people to find. I hope they encourage the finders. Since I have relatively low skill in painting, I choose to do certain images over and over again.

Cloud with rainbow on rock

Here is the most common one that I do. I am trying to do longer quotes now. This quote is “Courage is fear that has said its prayers.” I have a previous post on this quote. I want to be clear that I know that non-believers can be courageous too. I think our faith can help us to face our fears. Yet, there are plenty of ways to build up your courage in addition to faith.

Never give up!

This is an image of a woman climbing a large  cliff. I admire people who work hard to achieve their goals. I pray that this image will remind the finder to keep trying and never give up.

I may try a sunset with a different image in the front.

Rose painted on rock

This is my newest rock painting idea. I think that I am getting better at it.

I have tried a boy climbing in a tree that looked okay to me. I also want to try a mandala design (black rock with colorful dot design).

What would you like to see on one of my rocks? Please keep any suggestions on the easy side.

What are you doing in order to challenge yourself today or this week?

Rock painting

I decided to try painting some pieces of cement that I found on the side walks near me.

The roughness made it hard to write the quotes. But, I still enjoyed doing them and hope others will enjoy them too.

Happy Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday!

Winter rocks

On Friday, we had 10 inches of snow fall on us here in Waukesha. The city looks like a winter wonderland but some people are still waiting on restoration of their electricity.

Bushes in downtown Waukesha that are covered in snow.
A snow covered bench near South Street parking ramp
Old post office with flag
Tree hanging down due to heavy snow on it

In honor of our snow and extreme cold temperatures, I painted a group of winter rocks. I will be putting them out for the next few days.

Two year anniversary of Waukesha Christmas Parade Tragedy

I painted some rocks in honor of our two year anniversary.

Waukesha Strong rocks

I bought a cookie cutter shaped like the state just for these rocks. I placed them around downtown Waukesha yesterday afternoon.

Today was the day of the dedication ceremony of our five points memorial. Here is a picture from the day before.

I was pleased to see how many people came and that Governor Evers came and spoke.

After the ceremony, I went over to the hotel across the street and made a tile for the Grede Park Memorial.

The six tears are for the six people who died. It bothers me that I can remember who killed them but can’t remember their names.

Afterwards, I attempted to take a picture of the new memorial at five points.

The person in white was a lady reporter while the man in black was another reporter. I was trying to get the picture without interrupting them. This image reminds me of when there was more press on the street than residents.

On Thanksgiving, I took some more pictures of the memorial. I found a bouquet and put it a little higher on it for the picture.

Enjoy the Small things in life

I was looking for a new image for my rocks. I decided to see if I can find a YouTube video on drawing a rose. I found an easy one that starts with a heart.

I added the words, “enjoy the Small things in life” to the rose painting. I hope it will remind someone that there are small good moments even in the worst of times. Taking the time to search for the good moments may help someone to keep trying and trying.

Rock painting game

As you know, I love to paint rocks and put them around downtown Waukesha for people to find and enjoy. I have placed four rocks today.

I put this rock by a tree near the picture that gave me the idea for this rock. Of course the mural is MUCH better than my rock.

I found the idea for this rock on Pinterest. It makes me think of how we humans need to be loved and cared for. I placed this one on a bridge called love bridge.

This is the message that I want to tell all of the people who are struggling in this world and community. Don’t give up. Sure take a break for a while but come back and keep studying and practicing. I hide this one at Cutler park by the library since learning new knowledge or skills can be done at the library.

This rock was smeared when I put the protective coating on it. I put this one at Youman’s park near the nursing home.

These didn’t come out as good. So, I picked some random places to put them.

Please feel free to look for them today (7/15, Saturday).

Learning by stretching myself

I finished listening to a book titled Peak Performance by Brad Stulberg and Steve Magness . It reminded me that just as an athlete builds muscle by pushing themselves and resting, a person learns in a similar way. I read some of my old writing from 2010 and 2011.

The two Lenten devotionals that I wrote for my church.

I was disappointed to see that my writing hasn’t improved that much in a little over ten years. So, I have decided to find ways to stretch myself. Here is some of those attempts.

On my rock painting, I found some new ideas on Pinterest. If you want creative ideas, Pinterest is a great place to get them. My two completed works are not as beautiful as the ideas but they are my first attempt.

As you can see, the top rock got smudged when I sprayed it with the protective spray. They are both a rock painting idea that I will try again.

I will continue to study Spanish using Duolingo and reading/listening to books that are interesting and challenging for me.

As for my writing, I have not thought of any ideas to stretch myself. Do you have anything that you want to see on this blog?

Ten days of Joy Challenge

A family member challenged me to post ten pictures on Facebook that give me joy. The challenge requests a picture a day. I posted that I’d only be sharing flower pictures because I couldn’t think of anything else. But, I did think of pictures to share.

On day one, I posted a picture of my Petunia growing in my window on a very cold day. The window was totally frosted up. I was thankful for the warmth of my tiny apartment.

On day two, I posted a picture of food. I had just had a colonoscopy and was allowed to eat regular meals again.

My cat was the picture that I posted to Facebook on day three. Some of my family members are doing the challenge too. Two of them shared cat pictures on their posts too.

Sunday was day four. I took a picture of my pastor giving a children’s sermon. While I know that church is boring for children, I think it helps them to see how much we care about worshipping God. I also enjoy watching children sing or play at church. I hope they can create plenty of happy memories.

My love of rock painting was posted for day five. I painted a collection of rocks and put them out before our Christmas parade. I was hoping that it would encourage some of the parade goers.

I had no idea what I was going to post for today. Then, I thought of something else that I enjoy. I enjoy collecting rocks and foreign coins.

For day seven, I posted a picture of my books. I love to read.

I shared my love of nature for day eight. I posted a flower picture on Facebook but this is a better picture.

Day nine was a picture of a warm and sunny February day. Wisconsin has had mild winters for the past few years.

My last post is a picture of two birthday cards and a valentine card.
